Tristans is a small team of lively individuals headed by the principal architect Kevin Barnaville and Tristans’ staff members, past and present are listed below.

Tristans have a regular group of preferred Structural Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Building Services Engineers and Building Contractors to help with the projects that are commissioned.

Kevin Barnaville is a widely experienced architect who has played a leading role in the design and construction of a great variety of projects which range from involvement with the Thames Barrier Operational Area to small kitchen extensions in Clapham, London. His fields of activity include producing buildings for education, commerce, retail, housing, health, community and broadcasting and providing consultancy services for the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence both internationally and nationally within the United Kingdom.

His Master of Science degree from The Bartlett School of Graduate Studies at University College, London involved fundamental research into the effects of the spatial configuration of complex buildings and urban environments upon the behaviour of the people who use the spaces. 

His MSc thesis research on the subject of Airport Terminal Building Design has been presented as part of the MSc course in Facilities Management at the University of Strathclyde, the MSc course in Architecture at the University of Wales, Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff College and at the offices of SBT and YRM architects airports design groups

As a specialist in multi-disciplinary design, he has been involved in all stages of the architectural process from high level academic research to final constructional completion and subsequent monitoring of built environments.

In 1998 Kevin Barnaville set up ‘Tristans Architects Limited’ to practice independently in  the South East of England. The practice has built up successful relationships with various local planning authorities in the South East, from the London Borough of Lambeth to the City of Canterbury, Kent and has achieved a very high rate of Town Planning Approvals and subsequent project completions with a very high rate of Client satisfaction.
